haunted-pop asked: Ack, just saying there's a such thing as coxed doubles/pairs. Usually men's boats, they're now generally used for training and were a category in the Olympics up until the 70s or something. But people don't use them much anymore because they're impractical for racing, which is understandable. (Also, I personally love the geico rowing commercial hahahaha)

Bert and Dickie
See that? It’s MATT SMITH. ROWING.  Well, he’s not technically rowing in this picture, but he looks like he will be rowing soon in that moment. Turns out, Matt Smith, who we all know as Doctor Who, will be in a BBC TV movie called “Bert and Dickie“ about a doubles pair who row in the 1936 Olympics in Berlin. It looks fantastic, seeing as Matt Smith is a great actor, and...

These are a few of my favourite things: You know... →
webbex: Taking no credit, I forget where I got this from, but I think it’s hilarious! You know you’re a rower when… - You don’t mind walking in frozen bird shit barefoot. - Everything you do is, “in 2…” - You need to have a small pushy person around telling you what to do all the time. - You… Too true. Oh my god, someone knows.

Anyone Up For a Row?
Where I live, it’s been really nice lately. And I mean really nice.  Yet, is my crew out on the water? No.  Sure, we could get hypothermia and be in critical condition and/or die, but who really cares?  Apparently my coach cares. It’s not like we’re going to fall in! I mean, if we took out a double, there would be some questionable thinking, but a quad? Or a four? Would be...

secretlivesofrowers: heartnsoulineverystroke: Wow, thanks. But you know you love the front of it when I’m coxing you :P  It’s funny because I’m usually stern pair.

GEICO Rowing Commercial Issues
I like the GEICO rowing commercial, don’t get me wrong, but I have a couple issues with it. As the title of the post suggests.  The boat is the wrong kind of boat all together. Coxswains aren’t in a double. Coxswains don’t just yell “row”. The oars look way too tiny for any kind of boat. Guinea pigs aren’t that smart. Just saying.  (Anons who have guinea...
